    Caustic Soda Beads

Caustic Soda Beads (Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)) are a strong alkali used to increase the pH and alkalinity of the liquid phase.

The amount needed to obtain a given pH may be affected by a variety of drilling fluid products and related activities. The following chart is an approximation only.

    Mixing & Handling

Caustic Soda Beads are a strong alkali and produces a strong basic solution. The chemical reaction of this lye solution with water moisture generates heat.

Caustic Soda Beads are corrosive and will cause severe burns, and skin/eye contact is to be avoided at all times. To avoid contact, wear gloves, a protective apron, full clothing, eye protection, and a face mask.

In the event of contact with caustic soda solutions, wash your burn immediately with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if the burning persists or if the contacted area is inflamed.

*DANGER* Always add Caustic Soda to the water treatment and watch for bubbling and splashing.
